Privacy notes

This version of NYC School Finder is a public information website. It does not currently offer user accounts, saved lists, or direct messaging.

If you use address search, the site sends the text you enter through a server-side proxy to NYC Planning GeoSearch so it can resolve the address into a location. That query is used to return search suggestions and district / zoning context for the current session. Explorer filters are reflected in the page URL. A selected address and explorer view are stored in this browser tab's session storage to restore your place when you return from a school profile; records older than 24 hours are not restored. The selected address is not added to the shareable explorer URL.

The site includes Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights for page usage and performance. Map tiles normally load from OpenStreetMap; a configured CARTO service may be used instead. Loading those services sends requests to their providers, including the network information needed to deliver the map. Links to school and other source websites open external sites with their own privacy practices.

Correction reports open in Google Forms. We do not require a name, email or sign-in, and the form does not collect email addresses. School-page reporting links prefill only the public school name and page URL, never your searched address or explorer filters. The information you submit is stored in a private Google Form and linked spreadsheet for review by the site maintainer. Responses are not published automatically. Do not send children's personal information or other sensitive details. Google handles requests to its service under its privacy policy.
