At I.S. 254, our students become individual thinkers who are poised to make an impact in the world and together with their families join our I.S. 254 family in not only making the school and the community at large better. We believe that it is our collective responsibility to teach, learn and love. Students are offered opportunities to set up for a successful future. These opportunities include Regents classes in Math, Science, and World Languages and support for students who need additional help to achieve their highest potential. Our school learning stretches beyond the school day with our Afterschool partnerships such as our Community-Based Organization, ACDP (Asociacion Comunitaria de Dominicanos Progresivos/Community Association of Progressive Dominicans), and high-quality partners such as Creative Artworks, Groundswell, Fordham University, Manhattan College, Lehman College - Gear Up Thrives, and Renaissance Music on Wheels to name a few. During the school day, our students experience a rich 21st-century STEAM education that blends the modern (technology-rich) with the traditional (hands-on) where every student receives technology. Students also experience leadership and independence through the Leader in Me process (modeled after 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens).
