At the School for Math, Science and Technology through Art, students thrive in a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment where academic achievement, creativity, and character development go hand in hand. We blend rigorous instruction in math and science with a strong emphasis on the arts, fostering a learning experience that is both challenging and deeply enriching. As an Outward Bound school, we believe that students are crew, not passengers-taking ownership of their learning, supporting one another, and rising to meet challenges together. This mindset is embedded in everything we do, encouraging leadership, collaboration, and personal growth. We consider New York City an extension of our classroom. Students regularly engage in rich, curriculum-connected class trips to museums, science centers, theaters, and historic sites. Our annual trips to Broadway productions and other cultural institutions provide real world context and inspiration, making learning more relevant and meaningful. Our partnership with Broadway Jr. provides students with exciting opportunities to explore the world of theater. They don't just watch, they perform and have taken the stage in full scale productions of Moana, Aladdin, and Mean Girls, building confidence, creativity, and teamwork. Academically, we prepare students for success by offering opportunities to take the New York State Regents Exams in Algebra and Living Environment (Biology), laying a strong foundation for high school achievement.
