At the Horace E. Greene School (P.S./I.S. 45), we envision that our students will develop the decision-making, critical thinking, and technological skills necessary to communicate effectively. Our staff and parents are focused on empowering all students with the academic skills and social experiences that will enable them to increase their educational and social goals. We celebrate our multicultural and diverse student body and are united as a P.S./I.S. 45 Panther family. We are focused on improving our instructional curriculum to ensure that all students learn at high levels and master all content area standards. We also use the I-Ready digital resource to provide students with personalized learning opportunities aligned with their data, allowing them to accelerate their learning in ELA and Mathematics. We have a safe and inclusive school culture supported by these key initiatives: Kids at Hope: A cultural framework that reinforces our mantra: all kids are capable of success, no exceptions! Community Service: For grades 6-8. NY Edge Afterschool Program: For grades 3-8. College Access: For grades 6-8. Elective Fridays: For grades 6-8, with options like a Debate Team and a Gardening Team. Arts Programs: Including the Middle School Arts Initiative, Music and the Brain (PK-2), FyreZone (grades 2-5), and Inside Broadway (grades 2-4). We've re-branded our school with the addition of our mascot, the P.S./I.S. 45 Panthers, and have commissioned three murals that celebrate our school community's diversity.
